4. Synthesis liquids
Although mineral oils play a very important role, synthetic liquids have also been or are being used when special properties are required (fire resistance, resistance to partial discharge, negative gassing, etc.).
Insulating liquids are often designated by a universally accepted acronym. This acronym is often formed from the initials of the chemical name or the predominant category or molecule of the product.
Synthesis products can be differentiated by application; we have chosen to differentiate them by type of chemical structure:
chlorinated hydrocarbons ;
non-halogenated aromatic hydrocarbons ;
aliphatic hydrocarbons ;
esters ;
silicone oils.
