1. Losses and yield

General calculation methods for synchronous and asynchronous machines can be found in the article Losses in rotating machines [D 3 450] . In this paragraph, we restrict ourselves to medium and large unit power synchronous machines (> 10 MW), and use numerical values derived from tests for certain coefficients. These coefficients relate, in particular, to iron and additional losses. They are therefore only valid for certain constructional provisions in the magnetic circuit and end zones (stator coil heads, clamping plates, end-field shields, etc.). Table 1 gives loss and efficiency values for several machines....
