1. Sealing membranes

A number of different coatings are available in thin sheets of thermoplastic polymers (1 to 2 mm thick):

  • Plastic-coated PVC :

    • chlorinated polyethylene (CPE),

    • ethylene-bitumen copolymer (ECB), rarely used,

    • chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) in Hypalon from DuPont,

    • thermoplastic polyolefins (TPO) ;

  • elastomer membranes or sheets :

    • polyisobutylene (PIB),

    • butyl rubber,

    • EPDM rubber = ethylene-propylene-diene monomer.
