Ropes, cables, chains, slings and tackle are lifting aids. They are indispensable, but fragile, and must be cared for. Warehousemen must know how to maintain, clean and store them, while the handling team must respect them, using them according to the rules learned during their training. In particular, they must check their condition on a daily basis. All workers must be aware that using equipment that has to be scrapped is a potential accident hazard. The use of lifting equipment in accordance with its intended purpose is a guarantee of success on the site.
