12. Conclusion

The aim of this study was to give construction technicians (and even the general public, who may be unfamiliar with the field) a better understanding of expert appraisal, and therefore of the experts who must be called in to deal with the relatively high number of claims in the building and civil engineering sector, a source of multiple disputes.

We have previously examined :

  • the role of the many parties involved in a construction project ;

  • the various stages of such an operation;

  • the broad outlines of the January 4, 1978 law known as the "Spinetta law", whose main aim was to :
