ABSTRACT

An engineering structure, be it exceptional or common, is the product of team work involving engineers and architects from the design phase of the project to its implementation. Technical expertise as well as aesthetic sensibilities are combined. This exchange allows for the right choices to be made and the finding of adapted solutions for each structure. In addition to elementary aesthetic rules, such as the relationships of dimensions and non-closure of space, the integration of structures within their site must take into account landscape and architectural considerations. These good practices are defined in ministerial circulars. However, in depth knowledge of the site is essential. This collective approach enriched by appropriate added value is to allow for the embellishment and harmonious building of our living environment.

 INTRODUCTION

A work of art, whether exceptional or standard, is the fruit of a team effort involving engineers and architects, from the design phase through to execution.

The active dialogue between architect and engineer, involving the pooling of technical expertise and aesthetic sensibilities, ensures that the right choices are made, that the right solution is found for each structure, and that it blends harmoniously into its host environment.

This collective, value-added approach helps to beautify and harmoniously build our living environment.
