As fatigue strength is expressed in terms of stress ranges (§ 7 ), the effect of fatigue actions must also be expressed in terms of stress ranges.
There are different definitions of stress variation and notch effects. This implies different calculations of the applied stress. The choice of which type of stress to consider and which fatigue assessment procedure to use depends on the detail.
