4. Conclusion
It's worth noting the boom in personal mobility devices (PMDs). It should be noted that non-motorized PDAs are treated in the same way as pedestrians. As regards motorized PDAs (electric scooters, monoroues, gyropodes, hoverboards...), they have been regulated by the Highway Code since October 25, 2019 (decree n°2019-1082 of October 23, 2019 relating to the regulation of personal displacement devices published in the Journal Officiel of October 25). In the general case, the circulation of motorized PDMs is prohibited on sidewalks. Opening up cycling facilities to motorized personal mobility devices could lead to a rethinking of how public space is shared.
