2. City water supply

2.1 Distribution channels

There are two distribution methods:

  • the branched network ;

  • the mesh network.

The branched network is installed in sparsely populated areas, with water flowing in one direction only. Flow regularity is not guaranteed and, in the event of intervention on the network, the distribution system must be completely shut down. Installation costs are low (figure 1 ).
