6. Special staircases

In the case of private buildings, it is possible to dispense with the need for dry regularity, and seek out shapes for their aesthetic value. The staircase leading to a hydrocarbon tank is generally a spherical helicoid, which needs to be designed in such a way as not to create a risk for the personnel using it.

6.1 Layout

To begin with, the course will necessarily be laid out in plan, as the permissible slope imposes a development on the stride line according to the height to be climbed. The length of the course can even be twisted and turned to suit every whim, with countless horseshoes to choose from (figure 6 e ).
