4.1 Railings and handrails

Railings, balustrades and handrails are the elements of a guardrail designed to prevent falls into a possible void. Some countries, such as the Federal Republic of Germany, prohibit days when the fall can continue unimpeded to the ground: it's brutal, but guardrail standards are rigorous, which is reasonable (NF P 01-012 ); fortunately, the variety of possible designs remains almost infinite, subject to everyone's control over the legal text, the essence of which can be summed up in the figure 16 .
