INTRODUCTION
Since May 1 2005, a European standard has been applicable to industrial, commercial and residential doors and gates. This document (EN 13241-1) has replaced the national standards previously applicable in all countries of the European Economic Area. In France, NF EN 13241-1 has replaced NF P 25-362.
Although the new normative requirements are orchestrated by a single text, it is more common to speak of a "repository", given the wide variety of applicable documents.
Indeed, European standard NF EN 13241-1 is a "product" standard which refers, for each characteristic covered, to one or more other standards detailing the applicable requirements. It is therefore essential to fully understand these "support" standards in order to adequately cover the required requirement. Added to this is compliance with applicable European directives, as well as French regulatory requirements specific to these products.
These standards, European directives and French regulations constitute a body of texts laying down requirements for all doors and gates, or for certain types of product in particular. It is therefore essential to be familiar with each of these documents, their fields of application, as well as their main requirements and, where applicable, their conformity assessment procedure, in order to understand all the requirements applicable to this equipment.
This file presents the entire set of standards, separating out what is covered by standards, European directives and national regulations. The main technical specifications are also presented. Finally, it briefly describes the new obligations arising from the requirement to affix the CE mark.
Readers are reminded that, as this is a collection of 16 European standards, 4 European directives and 2 French regulatory codes, it is impossible to provide a precise summary of the applicable technical requirements in a single file. Only the main requirements are presented in simplified form for the purposes of an initial overview.
