1. White LED technologies

LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes), all made of semiconductors (a polarized semiconductor junction through which a current flows), emit light that can be considered monochromatic (spectral width at half-height between 15 and 30 nm). However, there are different types of semiconductor, doped in different ways, which allow us to scan a large part of the visible spectrum (from near-UV, at 380 nm, to near-infrared, at 750 nm).

To produce a white light emission, the two manufacturing methods the most common (90-95% of the LED market) are called :
