Between 2005 and 2007, programs to assess the quality of LED applications were launched in the USA, such as the Caliper program, followed in Europe and, more particularly, in France in 2008-2009 with the Citadel program, whose ultimate aim is to inform users of LED products and define parameters for measuring the quality of these products (see To find out more).
The keen interest shown by governments in equipping themselves with tools for assessing the quality of LED products is a clear indication of the importance attached to this technology.
It's vital to know the current performance of LEDs and to look ahead to the near future, so as to be able to make the right choices for different lighting applications.
