1. Elevated walls

1.1 A reminder of the functions a wall must perform

Walls and partitions, especially those made of masonry, but this is true regardless of the technique considered, have to ensure, in the case of commonly used buildings, the various functions listed below:

  • a ) mechanical stability under normal loads, whether these result from applied loads or from deformations imposed by thermal, climatic and shrinkage phenomena resulting from the construction environment and the nature of the structure (nature of the materials used, etc.);

  • b ) where applicable, safety in the event of earthquakes or other exceptional stresses;

  • c ) fire safety ;

  • d ) weatherproofing...
