16. Energy efficiency
The term energy sobriety officially appeared in Article 1 of the 2015 Energy Transition Act.
It expresses a break in consumption and production patterns, in organizations and lifestyles, in order to take into account the limits of global resources, while preserving comfort and safety.
This term is often misused to refer to common-sense energy-saving actions designed to avoid certain types of waste, such as switching off unnecessary lights and unused equipment, restricting lighting that is not essential, and generally reducing our energy consumption without changing our way of life and everything that makes us comfortable.
