Overview
ABSTRACT
All the processing operations, from extraction of uranium ore to the disposal of radioactive waste, via the fabrication of fuel make up the nuclear fuel cycle. France is one of the few countries with all the facilities for conversion, enrichment, fabrication, processing and recycling of nuclear materials. It has become a reference worldwide in this area. This paper, an introduction to the topic, briefly describes the objectives of the national policy pursued and identifies the various operations of this specific industrial sector, which are detailed subsequently.
