6. Conclusion
For most sites where the mass or volume activities of radionuclides released by nuclear facilities are measurable in the environment and distinguishable from background noise, the influence of their normal operation can only be demonstrated within a radius of a few kilometers in the air and in terrestrial environments, as well as downstream of watercourses receiving liquid discharges. However, it should be noted that the influence of atmospheric tritium discharges from Valduc facilities can be detected up to several dozen kilometers away.
The doses received by people living near French nuclear facilities, estimated on the basis of mass or volume activities measured in the environment, are very low.
