The recent and rapid development of nano-optics has enabled the light to become an essential component of nanotechnologies, opening the way to technological breakthrough in domains where the photon prevails: telecommunications, lighting, photovoltaics, health, etc. In this context, it has become more and more necessary to develop and monitor optical nanosources with spatial dimensions significantly lower than the involved wavelength. thsia rticle presents a large familly of optical nanosources presenting the characteristic of being supported by metallic nanoparticles interacting with a light field.

INTRODUCTION
The recent and rapid development of nano-optics has enabled light to become an important component of nanotechnologies, paving the way for technological breakthroughs in fields where the photon plays a predominant role: telecommunications, lighting, displays, photovoltaics, health... In this context, it is becoming increasingly necessary to develop and control optical nanosources with spatial dimensions far smaller than the wavelength involved. This dossier presents an important family of optical nanosources with the distinctive feature of being supported by metal nanoparticles interacting with a light field.
Rapid and recent development of the Nano-Optics has made light an important component of Nanotechnologies, opening up new routes in many domains where photons are used : telecommunications, lighting, displaying, photovotaics, health,. In this context, development of controlled and efficient optical nanosources (size << involved wavelength) has given rise to growing efforts and research activities. This article presents an important family of optical nanosources that are supported by metal nanoparticles in interaction with light.
