5. Conclusion and outlook
The use of machining assistants is a very interesting alternative for increasing productivity. These assistants consist in slightly modifying the machining process by adding external energy to facilitate the machining of the material. There are currently five types of assistants, depending on the type of energy applied: heating assistance (laser), high-pressure assistance, cryogenic assistance, vibratory assistance and magnetic assistance. Not all these types of assistance have reached the same level of industrial maturity. At present, for the turning process, only high-pressure assistance is commonly used, particularly in the aerospace sector. Cryogenic assistance is currently being industrialized.
