The concepts of Micro Total Analysis System ( TAS) or Lab-on-a-Chip (LOC) are at the heart of microfluidics expectations. A μTAS is a miniature device integrating the entire analysis chain, from raw sample injection to result reading. The notion of LOC is less restrictive, in that only one or more laboratory functions (mixing, separation, analysis, etc.) may be present.
