3. Dimensional specifications

3.1 General

There are two types of dimensional specifications:

  • linear dimensional specifications (linked to a size or dimension between two elements);

  • angular dimensional specifications.

The ISO 8015-1985 and ISO 14405-1 standards give meaning to dimensional specifications when a size is involved. The draft ISO 14405-2 specifies that other linear dimensional specifications and certain angular dimensional specifications may be interpreted in different ways, making the meaning of the specification interpretable.
