7. Industrialization and automation
Adhesive tapes can be applied manually, semi-automatically or automatically. These application methods are determined by the manufacturing process.
Automation solves the problems associated with manual installation:
too low a laying rate (see example of a manual laying system in figure 44 );
application quality and cutting tolerances not acceptable to the industry;
reproducibility of assembly, masking or random identification ;
not feasible other than in automatic mode (e.g. application in clean rooms or congested areas).
