4. A few rules for implementation

For optimum use of adhesive tapes, certain rules must be observed (figure 34 ).

  • The surface condition of the materials must be perfect: clean, dry and cohesive.

    For surface cleaning, we recommend using a solvent that does not leave greasy residues on the surface of the materials. Isopropyl alcohol (or 2-propanol) is commonly used for this purpose, and is suitable for all materials. Acetone or methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), a very good degreaser, can also be used, but only for metals.

    Never use white spirit, paint thinner, gasoline or their derivatives to clean materials, as they leave a greasy film on the surface.
