1. Electropneumatic power modulators

One major regret is the premature departure of Mr. S. SCAVARDA, who was to have written this booklet. I dedicate this work to him, in the hope of not having deviated from the basic thinking he initiated with his teams at the LAI, which has now become the Ampère laboratory at INSA Lyon.

1.1 Modulator functions

The function of electropneumatic power modulators is to establish a correspondence between an electrical input variable, current or voltage, and fluid flow cross-sections between the source and the exhaust, having a common point related to use (figure 1 ).
