6. Cylinder sizing
Once you've chosen the right type of cylinder (single-acting or double-acting, linear or rotary, with or without rod), the question arises: how do you size a rotary cylinder? The dimensions of the cylinder must meet the requirements of the particular application. This involves calculations, which are generally simple but necessary.
Although many tables, diagrams and even software programs are available to assist in this sizing process, it is useful to remember a few basic principles. Let's take a look at the different stages of sizing.
