1.1 Mechanism of fluid/structure coupling
A fluid/structure coupling problem involves two continuous media (solid and fluid) such as :
solid and fluid media exchange mechanical energy;
the solid and fluid phases are distinct;
solid and fluid media do not exchange mass.
The mechanical coupling between the two media takes place in both directions at their contact surface: the vibrations of the structure, under the effect of the forces imposed by the fluid flow, modify the configuration of the fluid/structure interface; the fluid flow conditions are thus affected, which in turn results in a modification of the force exerted on the structure...
