2. Torque transfer through bearings

A single bearing cannot take up a transverse moment (§ 8 ), except in the case of a bearing with a double row of rolling elements. To take up a moment, you must :

  • or combine 2 single-row bearings, which can be arranged side by side, or at each end of the shaft to better take up the overhang when the shaft is long;

  • or fit a double-row bearing.
