8. Ionization energy
Ionization energy is expressed in electron volts. The energy eV 1 represents the energy of first ionization, the energy e ΔV 2 the additional energy for second ionization and e ΔV 3 the additional energy for third ionization. Z is the atomic number of the element.
Table 7 gives the ionization energies of some elements.
