1.1 Loss classification
Turbomachinery losses can be classified in two different ways:

if we consider their physical nature, they are subdivided into :
aerodynamic vane (or hydraulic) losses, the main cause of which is the viscosity of the fluid, and which are mainly manifested in any fixed or moving channel by a head loss term (§ 1.2.1 );
