1. Origin of support non-adjustments

1.1 Design flaws

They may appear for different reasons:

  • design, for example: use of open profiles in a support section subject to tie-rod torsion, or skids too short to absorb horizontal movements satisfactorily; these defects will result in the existence of deformation (torsion), restoring force and/or deformation (tie-rod too short), unanticipated blocking (disengagement of a skid), etc. ;

  • absence or error of calculation: in this case, abnormal deformation is most often the result of excessive loading;

  • Finally, it is important to bear in mind that this is not necessarily an error due to forgetfulness or unfamiliarity with certain loadings, for example :
