1. Terminology

  • Pipe vocabulary

    • Functions: conduct, transport water from one equipment to another; features: De (outside diameter), Ep (thickness), PMA (Maximum Allowable Pressure), TMA (Maximum Allowable Temperature), material, weldable, non-weldable.

    • Component: a set of elements or a component that makes up a line of piping in a circuit.

    • Element: part, sub-assembly or component of a circuit, or the component itself.

    • Tube or pipe: the basic component of a piping system, consisting of a hollow body with a straight, usually circular cross-section, on a fluid water circuit.
