INTRODUCTION
The thermochemical processes involved in operations aimed at the thermal treatment of industrial waste and effluents were described in the article Processus . These processes are implemented in the various processes and equipment for waste disposal and/or material/energy recovery described in this article.
Generally speaking, these processes and associated technologies require a greater or lesser degree of prior preparation of the waste to be treated. The processes used are either total oxidation processes (incineration or wet oxidation), or decomposition and/or thermochemical transformation processes (pyrolysis or gasification), requiring different modes of recovery/upgrading of the heat energy released. Processes for treating gaseous effluents and final residues are also described.
