8.1 Energy recovery through incineration

The flue gases from the combustion/ post-combustion chamber must be cooled before being treated and discharged into the atmosphere. Depending on the size of the plant, this cooling may or may not include heat energy recovery.

  • Flue gas quenching

Suitable for low-power industrial installations, it is performed in a dilution chamber with fresh air or by spraying water in direct contact with the flue gases. Fume-tube boilers are sometimes used.
