The "mineral" industry has benefited considerably from the development of heterogeneous catalysis to increase its productivity and efficiency in the manufacture of raw materials essential to our society. Today, the chemical industry has heterogeneous catalytic processes for the manufacture of ammonia, nitric acid and sulfuric acid, which find numerous applications in the petroleum, fertilizer and specialty organic compound industries.

3.1 Ammonia synthesis
