4. Conclusion/prospective

Although already substantial, the biotechnological potential of phages is probably still barely glimpsed today. Numerous applications have yet to be developed, be they the result of a microbiological problem or simply the ingenious exploitation of one of their constituent characteristics. The range of possibilities is immeasurable. Entire industrial sectors are looking for alternative biotechnological solutions in which phages could very easily be integrated. By way of example, the problems of biological fouling or biocorrosion in the energy sector (Oil & Gas, geothermal energy, cooling towers, Exploration & Production, CO 2 storage...), biodegradation (biofuels, heritage protection), are areas in which phage biocontrol would provide innovative, effective and above all eco-responsible solutions compared with the current and often unreasonable...
