4. Outlook and developments
Coupled with recent developments in new-generation sequencers, the recent commercialization of digital PCR devices, and their increasingly frequent use, should have a major impact on our understanding of the complex processes involved in transforming a healthy cell into a cancerous one. Indeed, the molecular characterization of cancer cells and the correlation between the presence of certain mutations and resistance to conventional therapies have made it possible to develop new treatments, and to propose personalized treatments within the framework of targeted therapy. The growth of digital PCR will depend in part on the cost of these two technologies.
