5. Conclusion

In conclusion, metabolomics has demonstrated its great interest as a phenotyping tool, providing a global view of metabolism in the study of nutrition-health relationships in humans. Metabolomics, because of the great diversity of existing analytical strategies and their rapid evolution, combined with a specific data science in full expansion proposing different methods of data processing and integration, requires a multidisciplinary organization and poses a certain number of challenges with the notion of interoperability at the center. These challenges need to be met if the metabolomics approach, which today holds great promise, is to be fully integrated into systems biology and translated into diagnostic tools.
