4. Industrial implementation
The performance of a culture for the industrial production of antibiotics depends on its technological capacity to achieve the following three major objectives:
achieve efficient growth resulting in a large quantity of biomass in a physiological state compatible with production. In some cases, very good growth can result in the production of biomass unsuitable for antibiotic synthesis;
maintain biomass in optimal production conditions for as long as possible;
ensure that the growth and production phases, as well as the extraction and purification stages, are as cost-effective as possible.
