Overview
FrançaisABSTRACT
In the last years, many efforts have been dedicated to demonstrate the potential of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in the biomedical field. In order to integrate CNTs into living systems and fully exploit their properties, the chemical functionalisation of their surface is a fundamental step. We have proven that only a chemical modification allowing to introduce functional groups capable to disaggregate and shorten the nanotubes can alleviate the possible toxicity risks similar to those induced by long asbestos fibres, to which CNTs have been compared.
