6. Multi-channel industry

The operation of the multi-channel channel is based on two principles:

  • flow separation ;

  • individual thickness adjustment for each flow.

It's made up of several coat channels A, B, C... which open into a common air gap, where the flow becomes multilayered.

The thickness distribution in each channel is adjusted with the associated throttle bar, and the total thickness distribution is adjusted with the flexible lips (figure 31 : 3-channel die).
