3. Multifunctional processing additives
Moulding and demoulding can seriously affect the quality and appearance of the parts produced.
New, more universal processing agents with several formulation effects have been developed.
Parts are released from the mould using an internal release agent. The standard products used are metal salts (zinc or calcium) of stearic acid, but also combinations of stearic and palmitic acids, with all their advantages and disadvantages. Indeed, good demolding can be hampered by the difficulty of dosing these fine powders and the negative impact they can have on pigmentation.
The new process agents must also have excellent demoulding properties, to enable the moulder to easily remove the parts from the mould. This eliminates the need for stearates, which is already one of the major advantages...
