2. Anti-separation additives
To improve the surface quality and dimensional stability of a molded part, additives are used to control shrinkage. Anti-separation additives improve resin homogeneity and maintain the stability of the filled system.
2.1 Nature and principle of action of anti-separation agents
For example, PS (polystyrene) and PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) are not stable when mixed with unsaturated polyester resin (UP). These polymeric molecules have properties similar to those of resins, thanks to their relatively higher molecular weight (> 25,000) than conventional low-molecular-weight polymers (< 10,000).
