4. Indirect cost or cost of lost yield due to maintenance

4.1 Knowledge of yield losses

To date, not all companies have precise knowledge of the yield losses on their production lines. However, to remain competitive, they need to continuously improve the productivity of their production facilities. To make progress in this area, it is essential to :

  • monitor the Synthetic Efficiency Ratio (SER) of production lines and identify recurring causes of efficiency losses;

  • analyze the causes of yield losses and find remedies to increase OEE (figure 2 ).
