2. Determining the components required for strapping

Strapping involves passing a strap horizontally or vertically around a given load, then tensioning, sealing and cutting it. All three operations can be performed using either manual or automatic equipment.

Depending on the nature of the loads to be strapped, two criteria need to be determined: which strap to choose and, given the number of loads (output), which tool or machine to use.

2.1 Link selection criteria

For a given strapping application, the choice of strap depends on the load and the function of the strapping.
