2.1 Context of appearance

Against a backdrop of ongoing optimization of retail business models, new packaging requirements have emerged in Europe in recent years, with players such as Tesco and Carrefour.

Known as "ready-to-sell" packaging or SRP (Shelf Ready Packaging – ), these overpacks take over what were previously known as point-of-sale presentation functions, while adding more sophisticated logistical ergonomics.
