Certification is defined as the procedure by which a third party provides written assurance that a product, process or service conforms to specified requirements. The third party is a person or organization recognized as independent of the parties involved (supplier and purchaser, for example) in the matter in question. Certification may relate to products or to a company's quality assurance or environmental management systems.
