7. Conclusion
The French consumer model has been built up and structured over the years, since the first structures were created after the Second World War. Following the example of the American Consumers Unions model, France's largest consumer association, UFC – Que Choisir, now produces around a hundred comparative tests of consumer products every year, while the Institut National de la Consommation produces almost fifty.
The results of these comparative tests constitute a unique database of information on the quality and performance of the products tested. Monitoring plans and expert reports from consumer protection bodies complete our knowledge of products on the market. Companies manufacturing or distributing industrial products need to take these factors into account, just as they need to master the regulations and standards applicable to their sector.
