4. Setting up an MES project: form and content

4.1 Background

Basically, the aim of implementing an MES tool is to automate the management of operational processes.

This means:

  • detail the current processes to be automated;

  • identify the technical data required to describe and operate these processes;

  • model these processes in an MES tool;

  • implement these models in the field;

  • adapt organizations and practices to exploit these models.
