2. Palletizer technology

2.1 Classification

There is no universal machine that can palletize bottles, drums, crates, cartons or bags. The shapes, dimensions and weights to be handled are too different. On the other hand, there are families of palletizers for packages of similar shape and mass, which are classified in table 2 according to whether the transfer unit is the package (or unit load), the row, the stack, the multi-stack or the layer; each of these machines can be single-position or multi-position.
